BEL Contracting is seeking a full-time Environmental Manager. In this role, you will be the leader in providing direction to the environmental staff across various construction projects and be responsible to ensure that the project team adheres to the various Environmental requirements at the Provincial and Federal levels. 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that crews excel within our environmental and safety culture and model the high standards that we expect of all employees
  • Continually mitigate the impact to the environment resulting from construction activities
  • Create and execute environmental project plans to meet project schedules and critical path dates
  • Work daily with Operations teams to ensure environmental work plans meet or exceed the regulatory standards

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage all project specific environmental audits
  • Develop project level Environmental & Environmental Quality plans
  • Oversee all Environmental plan submittals and review/evaluate client submittals
  • Evaluate the execution of environmental plans with project team
  • Conduct trend and/or gap analysis of environmental performance
  • Develop project training plan with Operations team
  • Maintain positive client relationships
  • Prepare annual environmental presentations, as required
  • Track environmental regulations, and access risk of regulatory changes
  • Manage the document control and distribution of all Environmental documentation
  • Evaluate Property/transaction risk
  • Create and manage a Vendor review program
  • Review Contract risk and provide input and feedback, when necessary
  • Source out and lead Environmental initiatives and training for applicable projects
  • Work with Operations Teams to provide continuous improvement of environmental programing
  • Set up meetings as required with field teams and/or subcontractors to review environmental
  • Conduct or initiates field reviews and inspections

 

Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Biologist, or ability to obtain that designation would be a strong asset
  • Post-Secondary education in Biological Sciences, Environmental Engineering or Degree in Environmental Technology
  • 5-7 years of experience in the delivery/management of Environmental Compliance Programs
  • Experience in the construction industry will be an asset
  • Experience in leading environmental teams
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating environmental practices and performance
  • Strong Knowledge of environmental legislation in British Columbia
