Senior Project Manager

We are looking for a new team member to fill the position of Senior Project Manager at BEL Contracting (part of NorLand Limited), reporting to the General Manager. The Senior Project Manager will lead a team to manage unique heavy civil infrastructure projects valued up to $100M. The position is a 100% site based one. This person will be responsible for all aspects of project construction and will plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the project from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review the contract, plans & specifications to determine scope of work and to define project requirements and milestones.
  • Lead a project team to safely meet project milestones, within budget and to specifications.
  • Manage all aspects of project performance, including but not limited to, startup, safety, cost, schedule, quality, environmental, client interface, operations, scope changes, billing, and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain solid, long-term relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Work on project pursuits and lead proposal efforts, when required.
  • Mentor junior team members with the aim to develop their skills. 
  • Manage claims and change orders.

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • P.Eng, technical diploma or extensive industry experience is a requirement.
  • 8+ years’ minimum experience managing all aspects of heavy civil construction from project start to project closeout in Canada.
  • Onsite project management experience on a variety of large scale heavy civil infrastructure and transportation projects which involved highways, underground utilities, earthworks, and structures.
  • Ability to effectively manage new client development, client issues, complaints and inquiries while providing excellent service to clients.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Projects skills, Hard Dollar experience is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, outstanding time management, prioritization, multitasking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, where collaboration is the key to success.
  • Strong work ethic - ability to work in a confidential, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

 

The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical salary starting from $110,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience, and internal pay structures. As a part of NorLand’s total compensation package, this position is eligible for other benefits subject to program eligibility.
